Wine Enthusiast Vino Vac Wine Saver (1 Pump / 1 Stopper)

I know that many people do not have trouble finishing off a bottle of wine, but me, I can’t.  I open a bottle, and I may have a glass one evening and maybe one another evening, and it’s wasted.  I have dumped a few bottles down the drain, what a waste of money.  I just saw this little device on a “green website,”** and I thought, I need me one of those!  I think that something like this would keep me from wasting that “strange grape juice, Mama.”

The Wine Enthusiast** says:
“This cleverly conceived pump releases the air that turns open bottles of wine into vinegar. Just place a stopper in the bottle’s neck, place the pump over it and pump out the air until you feel resistance. The stopper seals the vacuum and keeps the wine fresh so you can enjoy it as much tomorrow as you did today. Includes: one vacuum-pump and one stopper.

Although you could just buy a box-o-wine.  Boxes of wine resolve that age-old problem of not being able to finish a bottle in one sitting.  Once open, a box preserves the wine for about a month (that works for me!) compared with only a day or two for a bottle.  The box may be ugly, but it’s practical.  I noted that bars now use these boxes, when I was in a hotel in California for a conference, I asked for a glass of red wine, and peeked over the bar, and saw that the bartender was getting my wine from a spigot.  Hey, it’s economical!**

I think Julia** would approve.
