Climate Counts

I was invited to a fun blogging event this past weekend where I was introduced to several fantastic companies supporting eco-friendly measures. When I arrived home and was searching through my bag of loot, I found a credit card-sized pamphlet entitled the ClimateCounts.org Pocket Shopping Guide.

Oh boy, is this thing cool. Kept in your wallet, it can tell you what large companies are on board when it comes to helping the environment. Airlines, electronics, food services, toys and pharmaceuticals are just a few of the categories listed in the pamphlet. When you are shopping for goods or services, you can tell which companies “stride,” “start” or “suck” when it comes to the environment and spend you dollars accordingly.

Climate Counts** is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization launched with support from Stonyfield Farm, Inc. that is promoting a collaborative effort to bring consumers and companies together in the fight against global climate change. They score the world’s largest companies on their climate impact to spur corporate climate responsibility and conscious consumption with a goal to motivate deeper awareness among consumers that the issue of climate change demands their attention, and that they have the power to support companies that take climate change seriously and avoid those that don’t.

I’m totally keeping this baby in my purse! What about you, though? Don’t have a pocket-sized guide? You can easily check out Climate Counts’ business scorecard online** or you can download their app** for your iPhone. See? Now you have no excuse. Show your support to eco-friendly companies with your dollars!
