Get Paid To Turn Off Your Lights

Hello, filterforgoodians. As you know, I’ve blogged several times before about green ideas with an entrepreneurial slant. This post is no different. HA! I think passion and duty can only take us so far. Soapboxes and tree stump can only do so much, until you need to say, “Hey, people. Be green and here’s some money for doing so.” My Emissions Exchange** is doing just that.
MEE has a new approach to reducing carbon emissions. It’s a personal carbon exchange that lets you earn money for reducing your carbon footprint. Participating members earn money by trading carbon credits in exchange for cash.
MEE = MRE
Participating in MEE is as easy as MRE, or “Measure, Reduce, Earn.” Their Web site helps members measure their carbon footprint as it relates to home energy usage. They take your electricity consumption information (found on your last electricity bill) to start. Then, they offer a variety of ways to help you reduce your energy consumption. Every month after, you simply enter your energy savings, and watch your credits build up. Once the credits are certified, members get paid via PayPal.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO? (from site)**
There are only a few simple steps before you can start REDUCING and EARNING.
- Sign Up with MyEmissionsExchange.com
- Create your Profile
- MEASURE by entering your home energy usage for the past year, and subsequently each month
- REDUCE your energy usage with the help of the MyEex Community Tips, Blogs, etc.
- Collect what you EARN from PayPal
Measure your carbon consumption.**
Have you earned any money from My Emissions Exchange, or a service like it? Tell us about it below?

Blake, I am on a one man crusade in regard to Section 619 of the Clean Air Act as it passed the House. I want to try to fix it in the Senate. The problem is that within 619 HFCs which are termed “Super Global Warmers” and in some cases have 10 thousand times more warming impact on the environment than carbon dioxide pound-for-pound ended up with a tax rate of $1 dollar per ton, while all other producers of carbon dioxide will pay $10 per ton. This is a glaring example of Washington back room politics and the strong chemical industry lobby. How can I get the word out the Green Community to speak up about this?
