How Will You FilterForGood This Earth Month?

Posted by: Blake on April 9th, 2009

Hello, Filterforgoodigans! Earth Month is upon us, so (of course) we’ve got a story to tell. More than a story, however, we’ve got a little contest for you. It starts with a question, “How will you FilterForGood this Earth Month?” Your answers to that question can win you some happy, greeny prizes (see the end of the post).

We prove every day on this blog that it’s easy being green, and that living green can include simple little (green) choices, or great big social movements. So, how will I FilterForGood?

My Five-For-Good Answers:

  1. Blogging-For-Good: The first way I’m filtering-for-good this Earth Month is by continuing to blog-for-good. I’m actually really enjoying the green-blogging I’m doing here on FFG. It makes me feel like I’m making a difference, and connecting with greenies like you. More than the blogging, I really love digging for green ideas to write about.
  2. Filming-For-Good: The second way is by filming-for-good. I started a micro-movement on my food blog called, the Food Chain. The way it works is that I send little digital video cameras to my readers, and they use them to shoot their own food shows. I want to do the same thing here (send little cameras for people to shoot their own green shows), and so I’ve already started distributing cameras. Stay tuned. I’ll be posting Green Chain videos here soon!
  3. Eating-For-Good: So, I’m a food blogger, and my list wouldn’t be complete without some green cooking. #3 will undoubtedly start at the farmer’s market. I’ve got to buy some yummy, organic veggies, and cook something fantastic. Maybe I’ll make FFG a food blog, if only for a day. Why do all our posts have to be commentaries? Let’s have some fun, and eat a little something. Shall we?
  4. Business-For-Good: I write a lot about green businesses here, because I am an entrepreneur at heart. I’ve started a few little businesses, and now that I’m so into greeny issues, I have this desire (#4) to start a little green business. One idea I’ve had is to make grocery bags out of old, vinyl billboard banners, but that’s being done locally. I’m actually shooting a video about it. I’m working on a new idea, but it’s not quite ready to announce. I’ll tell you about it here when it is. Oh, and I’d like to donate the profits to a green cause.
  5. Crafting-For-Good: At #5, let’s get crafty. I’m including this for-good idea just because it’s something I’ve needed/wanted to do “forevs.” It’s called composting, and we all need to be doing this more. I, especially, need to be composting because I buy a basket full of fresh produce every week. It kills me to toss those scraps in the trash or down the disposal. They could be feeding the earth, specifically, my little plot of earth here in New Orleans. This month, I’m going to make my own compost system. Hold me to it, Filterforgoodigans!

What are your five-for-good? Participate!

The rules are simple. If you’re tagged, post five things you plan to do for the environment this Earth Month on your blog. At the end of your list, tag five of your favorite blogs, and include a link back to this post using the hyperlinked text “FilterForGood Blog Meme Contest.” Let them know they’ve been tagged by leaving a comment on their blogs, or on their Twitter accounts (using the hash tag #FFGBlogMeme). Also, be sure to include these rules at the bottom of your post.

An Extra Bonus

At the end of Earth Month, FilterForGood will choose a few lucky bloggers who posted their five things to win some Brita/FFG gift packs to help you go green! Be sure you link back to the original meme post [http://www.filterforgood.com/blog/?p=1407] to enter the contest!

I’m tagging my fellow FilterForGood bloggers: Siel,** Stefani,** Neil,** Beth** and Sarah.** These smart greenies will surely have great ideas to share.

Good luck! Go ‘goodigans!
