Lately I got a power-point slide with some figure about plastic waste bottles. Some figures in there did open my eyes: 28.000.000.000 bottles a year, to produce takes 17.000.000 barrels of oil producing 2.500.000 tons of CO2.

But I did see that IBM and Standford had a multi-year research program to solve the problem that you only could use the bottle once and recycling was only to create secondary product with even more nastier effects on environment. I was happy today to see the announcement of the results of the project. We now can make PET bottles again from used PET bottles which was not possible before.
This will change the ball-game in that industry.
